
Our parent company has a leading position in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. We want to play a key role in consolidating this position and enhancing the value of the company.
We regard ourselves as an enterprise that acts responsibly, that enriches society with its commitment and that seeks to contribute to the rising growth trajectory of business. The global Corporate Responsibility Strategy of our parent company Telefónica S.A. provides the platform for this aspiration. We transfer this strategy to the economic environment in Germany and we adapt it to the conditions and requirements of the local market.

They arise directly out of our business activity as a telecommunications provider and simultaneously assist in achieving our corporate goals. These focal points are communication of media competence, access to telecommunications, motivation of our people, and responsibility for the environment and society. Leading position in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index
As a "Supersector Leader", our parent group Telefónica S.A. achieved a leading position in the Global Sustainability Index in the year 2009: The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) has evaluated the sustainability performances of the world's biggest companies in the economic, environmental and social dimensions since 1999. Telefónica was listed in this index for the first time in 2002. The outstanding DJSI ranking as the global sector leader enabled us to achieve an important strategic goal in 2009, three years earlier than originally planned. In the category of economic sustainability, Telefónica S.A. even took the best place among all the companies assessed. Telefónica S.A. has set itself the objective of maintaining the position obtained as the leading company in sustainability management. This position also contributes to increasing the stock-market value of the company over the long term.
Second place in the Good Company Ranking
Telefónica S.A. achieved second place in the overall ranking of the Good Company Ranking after BASF SE in 2009. Within the telecommunications sector, Telefónica ranked first. Kirchhoff Consult AG joins forces with business publication "Manager Magazin" to analyse the social commitment of the 90 biggest European joint-stock companies for this ranking every two years. The categories of employees, environment, society and performance are analysed. This survey enables the ranking to provide an independent comparison of Europe's 90 biggest companies listed in the STOXX index of supersector leaders.
