Rachel Empey has been appointed to Managing Director Finance (CFO) at Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG in September 2011. Prior to this, she was Vice President Controlling at Telefónica O2 Germany.
Empey joined the German Telefónica operations from Telefónica Europe in Slough where she led a central team as Group Controller from 2007 to 2009. Before, Empey spent about four years in various finance positions at O2 UK, including a key role in negotiating the purchase of the 300-store retail chain 'The Link'. Empey started her career at Ernst & Young, Lucent Technologies and Weir Group.
Empey was born in 1976 and holds a MA (Hons) in Mathematical Science from St. Hilda's College at University of Oxford.
