The O2 credit card marks an extension of Telefónica's mobile payment product portfolio and is issued by partner Barclaycard. It can be used at more than 30 million Visa outlets worldwide.
"The O2 credit card is a further important addition to our ecosystem of financial products and services," says Michiel van Eldik, Managing Director Wholesale & Partner Management at Telefónica in Germany. "Our strategic partnership with Barclaycard means we can offer our customers further interesting payment solutions in the future."
"We have a strong partner in Telefónica that shares our goal of making it as easy as possible for customers to pay. The bonus programme is a response to customers' wishes to collect points wherever and whenever they pay by credit card," says Carsten Höltkemeyer, Managing Director of Barclaycard Germany.
Free minutes, cinema vouchers and iPads
Once signed up to the bonus programme, customers collect one point for each Euro they spend, which can then be converted into prizes. These include cinema vouchers, iPads and free call minutes or text messages - with more than 80 offers to choose from. Additionally, all customers who sign up for the O2 credit card by 31 December 2012 and use it within the first four weeks after receipt will receive a credit of 2,000 points.
Five-star security
Cardholders benefit from Barclaycard's five-star security including protection against card fraud and a 24-hour emergency hotline. The emergency service provides protection when travelling domestically and abroad. The security package also includes Internet delivery protection and online customer service.
The O2 credit card can be ordered online from 5 November 2012 at www.o2.de/kreditkarte. The card is free to use in the first twelve months and then costs 12 Euros a year. Follow the Internet link above for more information about the new product.
