MUNICH. O2 teams up with some of the best film directors from Germany to explore new ways together: The next Telefónica brand campaign will bring their customer’s inspiring life stories to the cinema and television. There, the most moving moments in life but also moments which can get others enthused are being filmed. For this so-called Social Biopic,applications can be submitted from today on the website http://o2.de/biopic and on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
The Munich based production company Rat Pack – known for movies like “Die Welle”, “Bang Boom Bang“, “Fack Ju Göhte“, or the franchises of “Wickie“ and “Vorstandtkrokodile” – will bring the first story as a short film to the cinema screen. Therefore, the subsidiary company of the Constantin Film AG is working with three well-known directors in the first round: Peter Thorwarth (“Bang Boom Bang”, “Was nicht passt, wird passend gemacht“, “Nicht mein Tag“), Dennis Gansel (“Die Welle“, “Napola“, “Mädchen,Mädchen”) and Christian Ditter („Vorstadtkrokodile 1 & 2“, „Wickie auf großer Fahrt“, “Love,Rosie”). Social Media: Participation by double hashtag Until 21 May 2014 people can take part in the campaign by publishing their very special experiences as texts, images or videos with the hashtags #YouCanDo #biopic. And if more space is needed, it is also possible to post a link to a website where more information of the story is available. It is not necessary to be an O2 customer. ”Together with O2 we want to bring your story to the big screen,” says director Christian Ditter. “Almost everyone has experienced something that no screenwriter can think of – and exactly these stories are fresh, honest and exciting for our movies.” Peter Thorwarth is looking forward to the stories from real life: “Finally, once again I can make a ‘quick and dirty’ film and I don’t even need to come up with something,” he sums up the advantages. “Real life is the most glaring author”, explains Dennis Gansel. “Because nothing is more exciting than reality!” As of 30 May: Community chooses the best story The best submissions will be presented as of 30 May on the website http://o2.de/biopic and in the social media channels of O2, so that the community can choose the winner by 9th June. The next day, the winner will be announced and their story will be realised to a screenplay and filmed with professional actors immediately. As of 7th July the first social biopic movie 90 to 180 seconds in length will be showed in the cinema, on television and of course on the Internet. “O2 supports people to get more out of their life with digital opportunities," says Tony Hanway, Chief Commercial Officer at Telefónica in Germany.” Today the smartphone is the gateway to the world that is used by our customers to share their personal moments at any time with their friends and relatives.
