Huawei takes over field service for O2
MUNICH/Germany. Following the completion of the network extension at O2, Huawei is taking over the maintenance and servicing of the mobile communications infrastructure, i.e. the field service, of Telefónica O2 Germany. A corresponding agreement was signed between the two companies. Within the scope of a partial transfer of undertakings, the corresponding O2 employees are changing over to Huawei. O2 will still be responsible for network operation and network development.
Huawei is taking over the assignments of the field service and, with these, round about 220 employees as of 1 April 2010. The company already supplies the system technology of the O2 mobile communications base stations for Southern Germany. In addition, Huawei is a technology partner of the HSPA+ network, which O2 has been operating in parts of Munich since November 2009. "With Huawei, we have found a perfect partner, who will satisfy the high quality and security requirements we place on our mobile communications network", explains Andrea Folgueiras CTO Telefónica O2 Germany. "This transfer will enable us to focus on our core disciplines." "We are looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues on board with whom we will be working to secure the long-term success of O2", comments Xu Yuan, Managing Director Huawei Germany. "The extension of the partnership is the logical continuation of our long-standing working relationship."
