Telefónica to stage pitch for media agencies in Europe

MADRID/MUNICH, 31 March 2010. Telefónica today announced the launch of a tender process to select one media agency for the five European countries in which the company operates businesses under the O2 brand, namely the United Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland and Slovakia.
The pitch, which will be staged in Madrid in May, will include all incumbent agencies employed in the region. Telefónica will ask international media agencies to prepare a single bid to handle all the company's advertising in Europe. The agency will need to demonstrate a clear ability to work consistently across the region, planning and coordinating advertising activities while optimising available budget. The process is part of Telefónica Technical Media Division's strategy to align and standardise its media agency policy across its European regions, a process it recently completed in Spain and Latin America.
