  • O2 will become the sole brand in the premium segment
  • Same service at an unchanged price
  • Technical integration into a consistent system platform
In the course of the integration of E-Plus, Telefónica Deutschland is unifying its brand and tariff portfolio and will henceforth focus on the O2 brand in the premium sector. Customers of BASE and E-Plus will as a result gradually be transferred to O2 over the coming months. Terms and conditions will remain unchanged. After the conversion to O2 all customers of both brands will retain the same services at the same price as within their former BASE and E-Plus tariff. This way, Telefónica Deutschland is simplifying its offer in the premium segment and provides its customers with a consistent high-quality product and service range under one brand.
Markus Haas, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG: “O2 is our strong premium brand, which offers our customers the best experience in products and services – both in the O2 shops as well as online. Since our tariff and service structure is quite similar to the ones of BASE and E-Plus, we decided to significantly simplify our brand world as well as the respective technical platforms. For customers of BASE and E-Plus solely the brand name and the label of their tariffs will change. All other contract based services and terms will remain unchanged.”
With the conversion, customers of BASE and E-Plus will in future benefit from additional capacities for service and sales assistance that are exclusively offered to O2 customers. Among other things they can draw upon the mobile communication experts O2 Gurus or profit from the customer loyalty program O2 More. Furthermore, customers will in the future benefit from O2’s fast LTE network. The joint use of the network is planned to start by mid-year.

The conversion to O2 will be implemented gradually and is scheduled to be completed during the course of 2016. All customers will be informed about the respective details in due time beforehand. In the course of the conversion the previous services of BASE and E-Plus will be discontinued. The role of the BASE online portal will remain unchanged. There, starting from now, new customers will receive special offers based on the O2 Blue tariffs. Telefónica prospectively plans to continue using the BASE brand online. A fundamental repositioning as a sole online brand is planned for a later time. Other brands are currently not affected by any changes. Telefónica Deutschland continues to pursue a focused multiple-brand strategy. The transfer of the BASE and E-Plus customers to the brand world of O2 will also contribute to a significant simplification of structures, technical platforms and processes at Telefónica Deutschland.
