Most of the more than 2,000 employees in the O2 Tower now work from home in view of the Corona pandemic.
The crisis management team of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) is temporarily moving to the O2 Tower at Georg-Brauchle-Ring because of the corona pandemic. From there, 30 BRK employees will coordinate the emergency work for the Free State of Bavaria from the first floor of the building around the clock in three shifts, probably for the next two months. "The rooms in our office in the Garmischer Strasse in Munich have proven to be too small in the current situation," said the BRK's state managing director, Leonhard Stärk. "We are therefore very pleased that the O2 parent company Telefónica Deutschland has provided us with rooms, Internet lines and other technology in such an unbureaucratic manner.”

The O2 Tower, the headquarters of Telefónica in Germany, normally employs more than 2,000 people. In view of the corona pandemic, most of them are now working from home, as a precautionary measure even before the Bavarian state government declared the disaster a good two weeks ago. The move was initiated by Telefónica employee Ingo Roeske, who in his spare time volunteers at the water rescue service, which is part of the BRK. "When Ingo told us that the BRK was temporarily looking for larger premises, we of course immediately agreed to help," said Markus Haas, CEO of Telefónica Germany. "We are happy that we can help the BRK and hope that it will succeed in helping as many people as possible in these difficult times." Sick, infected or high-risk patients are not treated in the O2 Tower, Telefónica's business operations in the building continue normally under the special circumstances.
