One year of mobile freedom

Good ideas don't get older, only better: A year ago, Telefónica Deutschland unleashed mobile communications with O2 Free. The aim was to give customers untroubled access to the digital world at any time and at a fair price – even if the high-speed data volume of their tariffs has been used up.

Telefónica Deutschland expands its mobile O2 Business portfolio

Telefónica Deutschland expands its mobile business portfolio, offering even more data volume starting 18 September. With up to 30 GB of monthly high-speed data volume, this leaves virtually no limits to working efficiently on the move. Effective of the same day, Telefónica Deutschland expands its portfolio by the new O2 Business Basic tariffs for companies whose employees require only small amounts of data. The focus of the flexible voice tariff is on calls. Business customers can customize their O2 Business Basic tariffs thanks to a wide range of options – from smartphones to extra data volume.

In cooperation with Intraplan, a consultancy firm in the transport sector, Telefónica NEXT is now offering one of the most detailed data analyses for transport planning in Munich. The partners are calculating movement flows from anonymised mobile network data from Telefónica Deutschland. The related findings are intended as a comprehensive supplement to previous transport analyses.

The core competency of Minodes is the analysis of anonymised customer flows within a shop. This provides offline retailers with the analytical and marketing possibilities of online retail. It allows them to better tailor their offers to the needs of their customers and to provide a better shopping experience.

Successful test of Air Quality Analysis using mobile network data

Large cities are faced with constantly increasing pollution. But before cities can take specific measures against this problem, they first have to know where pollution is especially high. To this end, they require extensive data. As part of a pilot project in Nuremberg, for the first time, a method was developed that enables the analysis of traffic flows, and subsequently of air quality, using anonymised mobile network data. The approach is promising, which is why the methodology will be further developed in a follow-up project.

Smart data analysis for transport in Stuttgart:

Fraunhofer IAO confirms the potential of mobile network data for transport planning

The overburdening of city transport systems is becoming an increasing challenge. But before cities can take concrete action, they need to gather precise traffic data. This is often very time consuming and expensive. A study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in cooperation with Telefónica NEXT and the data analysis specialist Teralytics found that mobile network data can make a positive contribution to transport planning.
