Telefónica Germany to tie Activities in Marketing and Service&Sales Units for all Customer Segments

Bundling all activities for consumer and commercial customers as well as wholesale partners enables Telefónica to better align products and services with the changing customer habits and to bring them faster to market. "The growing demand of data tariffs and the increasing spread of LTE are leading to new dynamics within the telecommunications business," says René Schuster, CEO Telefónica Germany. "With Michiel van Eldik and John McGuigan we have two very senior and long time Telefónica managers, who know the German and European market well and will prepare our company for the future."
Michiel van Eldik has more than 18 years of experience within telecommunications. As General Manager he has last been responsible for the wholesale and partner division. Prior to that, he had controlled the launch and the management of numerous growth initiatives in segments as E-Health, Security und Financial Services as Group Director New Business & Innovation of Telefónica S.A.. Before that, the Dutch native was working for the former Telefónica O2 in UK and was amongst others guiding the Integration of O2 into Telefónica. Prior to his function at Telefónica, Michiel has held positions at AirTouch, FirstMark and Siemens.
John McGuigan has been General Manager Consumer Sales at Telefónica Germany since 2011. Before that, he has led the organization of Telefónica Slovakia as CEO. McGuigan has been working with the Telefónica Group since 2007 and was responsible fort he customer service at Telefónica UK.
