Telefónica Germany launches Internet-Insurance

-Protection against misuse of personal data
-Reimbursement in the event of damage due to online fraud
-Replacement of hardware in the event of damage or theft
MUNICH. As of now Telefónica Germany is the first network operator to offer its customers protection against online criminality. Its Internet-Insurance covers misuse of personal data, fraud during online shopping and damage to the hardware supplied by Telefónica Germany. Customers also receive support via a 24-hour Helpline. The Internet-Insurance costs just five euros a month.
"Our Internet-Insurance makes us the pioneer in the German market, responding to the growing threat posed by Internet criminality", explains Michiel van Eldik, Managing Director Wholesale & Partner Management at Telefónica Germany. "In addition to our established mobile phone insurance this completes our range of services, making online shopping, browsing and using social networks even safer for our customers."
As of now all customers throughout Germany with an O2 post-paid contract or prepaid card can take out Internet-Insurance. As practical as can be: up to six other family members can be covered by each insurance contract. The offer is very customer-friendly: one month's notice to cancel, a free Helpline for making claims and seeking advice, and the insurance can be taken out online at
