MUNICH/BARCELONA. Telefónica Germany presents its extension plan for LTE at the Mobile World Congress. Beginning 2 July 2012, O2 will start with tariff offers for tablets, surf sticks, netbooks and smartphones. The focus for 2012 is on the development of so-called high-speed areas around Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dresden, Hanover, Leipzig, Nuremberg and the Rhine-Ruhr region.
By the end of the year, the new high-speed internet will be available with a speed of up to 50 megabits per second in a total of over 200 cities and towns. As usual, all of the LTE tariffs for smartphones and laptops will be available with or without contract duration. As suitable hardware an LTE-enabled O2 Surfstick by ZTE is offered as well as at least two smartphones.
