Wikipedia App in cooperation with O2: Share interesting facts with your friends
MUNICH/BARCELONA. Telefónica Germany presented the "Wikipedia O2 App" at the Mobile World Congress. Using this smartphone app, encyclopaedia entries can be published directly via Facebook and Twitter. A local search function also provides the user with articles related to their current position.
Using location-based services it is possible to show all encyclopaedia entries for subjects such as points of interest for tourists in your immediate vicinity. Content of interest can be published in social networks or forwarded as text messages or e-mails directly from the app. The Wikipedia O2 App is available free of charge for the platforms Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and Java/Symbian. The languages offered are English, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Czech.
