MUNICH. Telefónica Deutschland is offering its O2 DSL customers higher speeds on the Internet: With the Speed option, an additional option for DSL rates from O2, the connection is up to three times faster than with a conventional DSL line: 50 Mbits per second. For the first three months the superfast Internet of the future will be accessible for as little as 14.99 euros, even without a contract. During this period of time for new customers the Speed option is included even for free.
Customers with an existing DSL contract can book the Speed option for 4.99 euros a month. With its expanded high-speed DSL offer Telefónica Deutschland prepares more than 11 million households for the Internet of the future, using lines of Deutsche Telekom. The three-times faster speed compared to conventional DSL guarantees smooth streaming of music and HD films and unlimited fun with online games. Uploading files is up to 10 times faster than with conventional DSL and even twice as fast as that with cable providers. Even extensive photo albums can be sent or placed online without long waiting times. High-speed DSL is also ideal for families or shared households: As a result, more people can surf at full speed at the same time. The Speed option can be booked as of tomorrow, 6 November 2012. VDSL connections will be available in the new areas as of February 2013. For only 99 cents a month, O2 DSL customers can now protect their computer with O2 Protect PC Basic - a sensible add-on. Anyone signing up for the service in addition to a DSL package by 14 January will have free protection for 24 months.
