Politikaward 2012:Telefónica wins with the youth programme Think Big
MUNICH/GERMANY. In the Corporate Responsibility category of the 2012 Politikaward, Telefónica was ranked first with its Think Big programme, leaving behind a total of four CR programmes from companies such as Thyssen Krupp and Coca-Cola. The renowned prize for political communication was awarded for the tenth time yesterday by professional magazine politik&kommunikation in Berlin. The jury comprised academics, journalists and PR experts.
"The Politikaward represents a real honour not only for all the programme partners of Think Big, but also for the more than 25,000 young people who have already engaged with the programme," says Dr Roland Kuntze, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Telefónica in Germany and responsible for Think Big in Germany. "Since it began in 2010, Think Big has impressively shown how well young people can get involved in society and what they can achieve with their own ideas." Think Big is a programme run by the Fundación Telefónica and the German Children and Youth Foundation (GCYF) together with O2, which gives 14- to 25-year-olds the chance to put their project ideas into practice using digital media and to reveal their potential. In doing so, they are supported with 400 euros and specialist coaching. The aim of Think Big is to encourage young people to use their own initiative and promote their creativity. It couldn't be easier to get involved: Anyone with a good idea can upload it at www.thinkbig.de.com and get their project started.
