Telefónica Deutschland has won the SABRE Award EMEA. At the award ceremony yesterday in London, the company was honoured in the category telecommunications for the campaign “Empowering the people through debate on digitalisation”. With the BASECAMP the company drives forward the public debate about digitization in Germany with diverse activities and well covered by the media.

From now on, Telefónica NEXT, the Telefónica Deutschland subsidiary focused on data-driven growth areas, will cooperate with Synergic Partners. The consulting company, which specialises in big data strategies, announced this at the Strata Data Conference yesterday in London. Through the cooperation Telefónica NEXT is comprehensively expanding its consulting services in the area of advanced data analytics.

Today, Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG successfully held its Annual General Meeting for the 2016 fiscal year at the Alte Kongresshalle in Munich. The Management Board highlighted the company’s achievements in the German telecommunications market as well as its progress towards becoming the OnLife Telco and reiterated its outlook for the year 2017.

With the takeover of the Berlin-based start-up Minodes, Telefónica NEXT strengthens its competence in intelligent data analysis for offline retail. The core competency of Minodes is the analysis of anonymised customer flows within a shop. This provides offline retailers with the analytical and marketing possibilities of online retail. It allows them to better tailor their offers to the needs of their customers and to provide a better shopping experience.

In a data-driven society, every individual should be able to decide what happens to their personal data. This is where O₂ GET comes in: Users can decide for themselves which personal information they’d like to enter into their O₂ GET account, and also which companies and brands within the app they want to interact with.

Large cities are faced with constantly increasing pollution. But before cities can take specific measures against this problem, they first have to know where pollution is especially high. To this end, they require extensive data. As part of a pilot project in Nuremberg, for the first time, a method was developed that enables the analysis of traffic flows, and subsequently of air quality, using anonymised mobile network data. The approach is promising, which is why the methodology will be further developed in a follow-up project.

As part of its digital transformation, Telefónica Deutschland, with its start-up Telefónica NEXT, is advancing the Internet of Things (IoT) for end consumers. At CeBIT, Telefónica NEXT for the first time presents a number of concrete products that are made smart by the specifically developed IoT software platform “Geeny.”

The digital transformation is a central theme of CeBIT 2017. For Telefónica Deutschland, as a driver of digitization and the largest mobile communications provider on the German market by number of customers, CeBIT is the perfect place to present the company’s visions and products under the motto “#DesigningDigitalLives.” This is why, for the first time in ten years, Telefónica Deutschland returns to the show with a large-scale stand.

The overburdening of city transport systems is becoming an increasing challenge. But before cities can take concrete action, they need to gather precise traffic data. This is often very time consuming and expensive. A study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in cooperation with Telefónica NEXT and the data analysis specialist Teralytics found that mobile network data can make a positive contribution to transport planning.

The supervisory board has resolved today to appoint Markus Haas as CEO of Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG effective as of 1 January 2017.

In today’s meeting, the Supervisory Board of Telefónica Deutschland approved an early termination of Thorsten Dirks’ management board contract as per his request.

Telefónica Deutschland has just presented its new fixed-line offering for business customers at CeBIT. O₂ All-IP equips companies with everything they need from one source: The telephone system, internet access and telephone connection are all provided by the same supplier and paid for through a combined monthly bill.
