The very good rating confirms once again that we offer our 43 million customers a first-class network across Germany,” says Markus Haas, CEO of O2 Telefónica. “Our O2 network has been shaping the mobile communications market for 25 years now. With its 28,000 mobile sites, it is one of the country’s most important digital lifelines. We want to lead Germany into the digital future. To this end, we are also continuing to invest in the best network experience for our customers.”

Fast 5G expansion and comprehensive broadband coverage

In the user-based measurements, the O2 network achieves the best ranges in mobile broadband coverage
The O2 network has once again improved compared to the previous year and achieved 895 points, although the test criteria are stricter this year. A key factor for the high network quality is the 5G network expansion. O2 Telefónica already reaches over 90 percent of the population with 5G. According to connect, the O2 network has the largest share of real 5G - in contrast to the expansion with Dynamic Spectrum Sharing technology, which combines 4G and 5G. This has a particularly positive effect in large cities, where the 5G share in the O2 network is around 90 percent. In addition, the O2 network achieves a population coverage of around 100% with 4G/LTE so that customers can make mobile calls and use their digital applications at any time. In user-based measurements, the O2 network achieves the best values in mobile broadband coverage. This means that most people were covered by 4G/LTE or 5G.

Investing in an even better network

O2 Telefónica is continuously expanding its network and its services to ensure that customers receive even better network quality and coverage. To this end, the company is consistently focusing on 5G expansion and implementing modern technologies such as cloud, artificial intelligence and automation in the network.
