- Since January, the new CTEO organization has brought together the departments of Technology, Data & IT, as well as the O2 Business segment for enterprise customers.
- New enterprise customers such as Deichmann and digitalization projects in cooperation with “ekom21” in Hesse demonstrate growth ambitions.
- Top ratings and awards in industry rankings are giving O2 Business additional momentum.
The integration of the technology division with the enterprise segment “O2 Business” is paying off: Nine months after merging the units, telecommunications company O2 Telefónica reports several new customer acquisitions as well as ambitious new digitalization projects. Examples include the partnership with ekom21, the largest municipal IT service provider in Hesse, and projects commissioned by the Europe-wide retailer Deichmann.
“Today, companies need powerful, secure, and flexible connectivity to drive their digitalization forward. O2 Telefónica offers a comprehensive portfolio for this purpose – from 5G and innovative network solutions to AI-based services”, says Mallik Rao, Chief Technology & Enterprise Officer (CTEO) of O2 Telefónica. “By combining our expertise in technology, data, and AI, we can implement new solutions for our enterprise customers more quickly and precisely, optimally supporting them on their growth path.”

A vivid example of O2 Telefónica’s digitalization capabilities is the partnership with ekom21, the largest municipal IT service provider in Hesse. Since April 2024, hundreds of municipal institutions have already been connected. In July 2025, the company celebrated the connection of its 350th site together with the municipal administration of Hainburg. The technology used replaces expensive leased lines with flexible, secure, and cost-efficient network solutions – enabling municipalities to use digital applications more quickly, reduce operating costs, and connect locations across Hesse.
O2 Telefónica is also setting standards in the enterprise sector: Since early 2025, the company has been supporting the Deichmann Group in expanding the digital connectivity of its headquarters and around 1,300 stores in Germany – including its subsidiary Snipes. Further joint digitalization projects are already being planned.
Industry awards also confirm the CTEO division’s course. In July this year, O2 Telefónica achieved second place in the “Business Mobile Provider” category at the connect professional Readers’ Choice Awards 2025, an annual industry vote.
O2 Telefónica also impressed in the Handelsblatt mobile provider ranking: With the only “EXCELLENT” rating in the business customer segment, the company once again took first place – for the second time in a row. In three out of four subcategories, including “Business Heavy User” and “Power User,” O2 Telefónica also emerged as the winner.

Mallik Rao, CTEO of O2 Telefónica, is convinced: “Especially for business customers, the need for holistic support is becoming increasingly important. What matters is that solutions do not just cover individual areas, but support the entire company – customer-centric, at eye level, and with an understanding of individual requirements.”
With innovative offerings such as Webguard, O2 Telefónica provides business customers with additional security and control for their networks. “The solution protects company data from internet threats and enables flexible adaptation to individual requirements,” adds Mallik Rao, Chief Technology & Enterprise Officer (CTEO) of O2 Telefónica.
In the future, O2 Telefónica aims to grow particularly with new connectivity solutions for small and large companies, for example in the areas of 5G, artificial intelligence, and secure network infrastructures. The goal is to help companies throughout Germany advance their digitalization faster, more efficiently, and more securely. “With this combination of strategic realignment, measurable successes, and concrete customer projects, we are underscoring our claim as a reliable digitalization partner for business and government,” says Mallik Rao, CTEO of O2 Telefónica.
