Telefónica Deutschland and MediaMarktSaturn Deutschland strengthen their sales partnership

Effective 1 January 2019, Telefónica Deutschland and MediaMarktSaturn Deutschland will extend their successful sales cooperation by another five years. In addition, both partners intend to expand their existing cooperation, in particular in the online segment. The two companies have now signed the corresponding agreement.

MediaMarktSaturn Deutschland and Telefónica Deutschland have a long-standing partnership which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year: “The expansion of our strategic cooperation with MediaMarktSaturn Deutschland is an important cornerstone of Telefónica Deutschland’s strategic positioning. O2 remains exclusive brand

O2 thus remains the only mobile communications brand of a network operator that sells convergent products for mobile communications and DSL directly via the stationary shops as well as the online channels of MediaMarkt and Saturn. This means that customers can continue to purchase mobile plans from O2 – a brand which stands for mobile freedom like no other brand in the German telecommunications market – at more than 430 MediaMarkt and Saturn stores as well as via their respective online shops. In addition to the “O2 Free” tariff portfolio, which is highly successful in the German mobile market, Telefónica Deutschland and MediaMarktSaturn Deutschland are also expanding their partnership in regards to the mobile offering of MediaMarktSaturn’s own brand “SuperSelect.” MediaMarkt and Saturn have successfully marketed this brand since 2015. Cooperation supports Telefónica Deutschland’s omnichannel strategy

With more than 430 locations in combination with two strong online shops, MediaMarkt and Saturn reach hundreds of thousands of potential customers throughout Germany every day. The multichannel business of the two electronics retailers thus also provides Telefónica Deutschland with extremely important access to customers. The now agreed expansion of the partnership in particular for online sales, directly enhances the success of the omnichannel strategy that Telefónica Deutschland is consistently embedding within the company.
