O2 and comdirect bank AG will cooperate in O2 Banking in future. Together, the partners will comprehensively modernise the mobile banking offer for their customers. With comdirect, O2, the core brand of Telefónica Deutschland, has won one of the leading online banks in Germany for O2 Banking. The multiple award-winning bank stands for innovative strength, a powerful technological platform and high quality customer service. From 28 May 2020, interested O2 customers will receive a full banking offer from comdirect bank AG. They will also be able to use many other services via the O2 Banking App, such as contactless payment with Apple Pay and Google Pay. In autumn, O2 Banking will then launch the new bonus programme with further customer-relevant services. O2 Banking existing customers who open a new account with comdirect bank from the end of May onwards will receive an exchange premium of 25 euros from comdirect1 when they conclude the new account agreement by 30 June 2020. O2 will also credit them with a one-off data volume of 50 GB for personal use.2

"We are retaining this focus in our cooperation with O2 and will continue to develop the range of products and services together with O2 on an ongoing basis with a strong customer focus". The core services of the new banking offer include a free girocard and a Visa credit card, which is also free of charge. Customers can withdraw money worldwide free of charge and make mobile payments - simply, securely, quickly and independently of the device: the comdirect Visa card gives customers access to mobile contactless payment systems from Apple Pay and Google Pay. O2 Banking with comdirect also offers convenient transfer options via chat, voice or photo. And the customer can also use digital asset management with the robo-advisor cominvest.
O2 Banking App
As soon as the O2 Banking account is opened with comdirect bank AG, customers can use the account change service of comdirect. This allows payment partners to be informed about the new account. The new O2 Banking App, which can be used for all mobile banking transactions, will be available for Apple iOS and Android from 28 May 2020. The cooperation is based on the existing Banking Industry Platform of comdirect. HSV and BVB, for example, use it to make innovative payment and banking a tangible experience for their fans. In the coming weeks and months, O2 and comdirect will continue to work on the mobile banking of the future and make it available to all O2 Banking customers in autumn.
1)Customers will receive a €25 bonus if they make at least 15 payments via Apple Pay or Google Pay with their comdirect Visa card (credit card) within the first 3 months after opening their account (only payments in retail stores and in-app and online purchases apply). The bonus will be credited to their new checking account in the 4th month after opening the account. The offer is only valid for new comdirect customers. A new customer is anyone who was not already a customer of comdirect bank AG in the last 6 months before opening the account.
2)Applies to private customers with an O2 All-in, Free, or Blue Basic/Smart/Select postpaid mobile phone tariff and an LTE-compatible SIM card, who switch to an O2 Banking account powered by comdirect with their O2 Banking account by 30.06.20 (O2 mobile phone number must be provided when opening the account). Excluded are customers with activated automatic data processing or payment arrears. The data package is activated by O2 from 01.07.20 and is valid for four weeks. It expires in case of early contract extension, change of data option or a tariff change.
