O2 and comdirect launch the new financial app O2 Money:Up to 2 percent bonus interest for O2 customers
O2 is launching O2 Money together with its banking partner comdirect on 29 October. The new app is a freely available smart financial assistant for all users. In addition to the practical functions of the financial assistant, O2 customers will receive bonus interest on their credit balance up to a certain amount. O2 customers who integrate their O2 banking account with comdirect into the O2 Money app receive 2 percent bonus interest per year. O2 customers who instead deposit their current account with another bank benefit from 1 percent bonus interest per year.1 The clever financial assistant, the O2 Money App, also includes an attractive bonus interest program that is unique in Germany. The app also offers many innovative functions that allow users to keep track of their finances easily and securely on their smartphone at all times. For example, they receive an overview of existing mobile phone contracts or their available monthly budget. The well-known free mobile banking services of O2 Banking are also included in the new app. Existing O2 Banking users only need to update their O2 Banking app. It will then automatically become the O2 Money App.
"O2 Money is a central component of our digital ecosystem for O2 customers alongside O2 TV, the O2 Cloud and our existing customer programme O2 Priority. We are using the opportunities provided by digitalization to offer them the best overall package on the market consisting of tariffs, smartphones, services, outstanding support and a high-performance network", explains Wolfgang Metze, Chief Consumer Officer at Telefónica Deutschland / O2. "More and more people are handling their banking transactions on the move and want to manage their finances via smartphone. Together with our partner comdirect, we have developed O2 Banking specifically to meet these customer needs."
"With O2 as a strategic partner at our side, we have created a fully comprehensive mobile banking offer with real added value that is not yet available on the market in this combination. The extreme focus on user needs and a correspondingly excellent user journey should enable users to understand and optimise their finances easily and with pleasure", says Matthias Hach, Marketing and Sales Director of comdirect.
Overview of all finances via smartphone app O2 Money
The new, free and comprehensive financial app O2 Money is available to all users - including non-customers of O2 - with the following useful functions:
Monthly budget: With the touch of a finger, users have a complete overview of their monthly budget and, thanks to the financial manager, they always know what they can afford this month - including upcoming payments and cash receipts.
Household budget book: Here, users can see at a glance what they are spending money on and immediately recognise where they can still save.
Contract overview: The app automatically recognises all current contracts and subscriptions, such as insurance, rent, electricity and gas costs, streaming subscriptions, mobile telephony and other regular services and summarizes them clearly.
O2 Banking is part of the new O2 Money App
O2 Banking customers with a current account with comdirect will continue to receive the familiar free services via the O2 Money App: Account management, a Visa debit card in the O2 design with contactless payment function and a girocard. Customers have access to contactless payment systems such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. In addition to the three free cash withdrawals per month with the Visa debit card at all ATMs with the Visa symbol, customers in Germany can withdraw money with their girocard free of charge. Around 9,000 domestic Cash Group2 ATMs are available for this purpose, including cash withdrawals at around 1,300 Shell filling stations. In addition, free cash withdrawals with the girocard are possible at up to 13,000 retail partners such as Rewe, Netto or Edeka. Cashless payments with the Visa debit card are free in euros, as are three cash deposits per year with girocard at any Commerzbank branch. Customers can also open a joint account in addition to an individual account.
Mobile banking via smartphone is the trend
The Bitkom study "Digital Finance 2019" shows that mobile banking via smartphone is becoming increasingly relevant, especially among the younger target group: 63 percent of 16 to 29-year-olds and 54 percent of 20 to 49-year-olds use their smartphone for banking transactions. 65 percent of online banking users use banking apps.
