In the future, Lebara will conduct its mobile communications business via Telefónica Deutschland's network infrastructure.
Telefónica Deutschland is expanding its wholesale partnerships with Lebara as a prominent newcomer. The international mobile provider Lebara has also been present in the German market since 2010 and is an established part of the market landscape there as a provider of mobile voice and data services for 'global citizens'. In order to further increase its growth potential, Lebara will in future realise its mobile business via Telefónica Deutschland's network infrastructure. The switch as the newest wholesale partner to the Munich-based telecommunications company is planned for next year. Claus Jepp, Managing Director Lebara Germany, said: "We continue to invest heavily in growing our successful business in Germany and look forward to working with Telefónica."
"I am very pleased to welcome Lebara as a new wholesale partner of Telefónica. With our strong mobile network and our extensive experience in the partner business, we are the ideal partner for Lebara to continue their success story," said Alfons Lösing, Member of the Management Board for Partner Management at Telefónica Deutschland. Telefónica Deutschland's mobile network now supplies almost 100 per cent of the German population with 4G and was rated "very good" in the last nationwide network test by the trade magazine connect and currently by Smartphone magazine. With the fastest and most extensive network expansion in its corporate history, Telefónica Deutschland had brought its mobile network on a par with the competition. In the current year, Telefónica Deutschland has consistently further expanded its mobile network throughout Germany and upgraded it with additional capacities. The basis for this is the high investment programme with a volume of around four billion euros in the period from 2020 to the end of 2022.
